MeisterSinger, the specialist of single-hand watches, announced the Edition Planet Earth, a project developed in collaboration with WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature), one of the world’s leading nature conservation organizations, and aimed to support their precious work in preserving the earth’s biodiversity, promoting the sustainable use of natural resources, and helping to reduce environmental pollution and wasteful consumption.

Based in Münster, the northwest Germany often referred to as the "bicycle city", MeisterSinger created a limited edition of 500 timepieces characterised by a jet-black dial encompassing the photorealistic representation of our planet, a way to remind us how precious and beautiful it is.

Based on the Perigraph model (our review here), the Edition Planet Earth maintains the peculiarity of featuring a single hand to indicate the time: needle-sharp and white, this large hand sweeps over the 12 hours divided by 144 markers, each representing 5 minutes.

Additionally, the concentric ring that rotates around the representation of the Earth advances by one step each day at midnight showing the current date just below 12 o'clock, as highlighted by a small red arrow.

Crafted from stainless steel, the round case is 43 mm in diameter and 11.5 mm high, domed sapphire crystal included, and guarantees water-resistance up to 5 bar (approximately 50 metres / 165 feet). The large crown is adorned with an embossed MeisterSinger logo, the musical notation for a pause.

Based on the 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) Swiss automatic Sellita SW 400, the movement and its rotor engraved with the logo of the brand can be viewed through the 6-screwed glass exhibition back. The world-famous panda with the WWF lettering adorns the glass back of the Edition Planet Earth. The power reserve of the watch is 38 hours.

In line with the sustainability concept, the watch will be matched to a vegan strap made of apple fiber that is very similar to natural leather in terms of quality, look and comfort and delivered in an environment-friendly packaging that from now on will be extended to all of the other watches of the brand.

On sale from the end of October, the Edition Planet Earth will retail at Euro 1,990. For every watch sold, MeisterSinger and its business partners will waive an equal share of €200, which will be donated to WWF as direct support.

Due to contractual agreements, the availability of the Edition Planet Earth will be limited to the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the United Kingdom. meistersinger.com
