Presented this week, the latest “Laureus Sport for Good” timepiece from IWC is housed, for the first time, in a scratch-resistant blue ceramic case that nicely matches the typical blue dial, a tradition for Laureus editions.

The new Pilot’s Watch Automatic Edition “Laureus Sport for Good” ref. IW328101 is the 15th special edition that the Schaffausen-based watch manufacturer has created to support the work of Laureus Sport for Good, a foundation that, since 2000, has helped change the lives of more than six million children and young people and that is currently supporting more than 250 programmes in over 50 countries that use the power of sport to transform lives. 

The dark blue hue of the ceramic is the result of a complex manufacturing process where powdered zirconium oxide is mixed with other metallic oxides, shaped, and then sintered in a furnace. Measuring 41 mm x 11.4 mm, the case is water resistant to 10 bar (100 metres / 330 feet).

Protected by a convex sapphire crystal with antireflective coating on both sides, the blue dial is perfectly legible at first glance, even in poor light conditions thanks to the generous luminescent coating.

The IWC-manufactured 32111 calibre guarantees a remarkable power reserve of five days thanks to an improved barrel construction. Beating at the frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), the movement is shielded from the effects of magnetic fields by a soft iron inner cage.

The titanium case back is engraved with the winning design from the drawing competition that IWC organises every year within all the programmes supported by Laureus Sport for Good. It was created by 12-year-old Melissa Mejía Castilla from Colombia and is entitled “Vivir en Armonía” (Living in Peace). 

Limited to 750 pieces and matched to a blue rubber strap with textile inlay, the IWC Pilot’s Watch Automatic Edition “Laureus Sport for Good” ref. IW328101 has a price of Euro 6,950. iwc.com
