Swiss watch brand Zeitwinkel launched the new 273° Saphir Bleu, a model characterised by its transparent blue sapphire dial that offers glimpses of the excellent movement.

The transparent dial is not a complete novelty for Zeitwinkel. In fact, it was already featured in its 273° Saphir Fumé model. Nonetheless, achieving the special blue colour used for the 273° Saphir Bleu is way more complex and only a few of these special dials can be produced each year, thus limiting the number of watches that can be manufactured.

The dial has a distinctive layout with central hours and minutes, small seconds at 6 o'clock, a power reserve indicator between 1 and 2 o'clock and the patented large-date display at 11 o'clock. 

Depending on how the light hits the surface, the dial can give the impression of a nearly solid blue-coloured material or reveal the movement through its translucent structure.

Housed in a 42.5 mm x 13.8 mm stainless steel case, the in-house developed caliber ZW0103 beats at the frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hours) with an autonomy of 72 hours. 

Like all Zeitwinkel movements, the caliber ZW0103 features plates and bridges crafted from German silver. All its elements, even those that cannot be seen unless the movement is completely disassembled, are meticulously finished and decorated with techniques such as Côtes de Genève, perlage and chamfering. 

Entirely assembled by hand in Zeitwinkel’s atelier in Saint-Imier in the Swiss Jura, the 273° Saphir Bleu is water resistant up to 5 ATM (approximately 50 metres / 165 feet)
