MB&F - Legacy Machine FlyingT Malachite

MB&F is launching the Legacy Machine FlyingT Malachite, the latest variation of its flying tourbillon timepiece dedicated to women.

Featuring a dial plate and subdial in the vibrant green gemstone, the new model is housed in a white gold case with a steeply cambered bezel and slender, elongated lugs, fully set with diamonds.

With natural lines, varying randomly from light to dark green, the malachite dial beautifully stands out under the highly convex dome of sapphire crystal (with anti-reflective coating on both sides) rising from the bezel. 

The time is displayed at 7 o’clock on a 50° vertically tilted subdial with two serpentine hands. The two crowns can be used to wind the watch (left) or to set the time (right).

The towering vertical structure of the FlyingT automatic movement is topped by a 60-second flying tourbillon. As their name suggests, flying tourbillons are anchored only at their base, with no stabilising bridge to restrict lateral motion at the top.  

Affixed to the top of the upper tourbillon cage is a single large diamond that rotates simultaneously with the flying tourbillon, emitting the fiery brilliance of the very best quality stones.

Beating at the slow (and mesmerising) frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour (2.5 Hz), this 280-component movement offers a power reserve of 100 hours.

On the caseback we find a winding rotor in the shape of a three-dimensional red gold sun with sculpted rays, a nod to the the Middle Ages custom to wear malachite engraved with a figure of the Sun to maintain health.

Measuring 38.5 mm in diameter with a thickness of 20 mm, the case of this model is water resistant up to a pressure of 3 ATM (approximately 30 metres / 90 feet) and matched to an alligator leather strap available with a white gold pin buckle. The retail price of the MB&F Legacy Machine FlyingT Malachite is CHF 125,000 plus local taxes.
