Just like every year, Glashütte Original is presenting a new special edition that enriches the 1960s inspired Sixties collection (you can read about the 2020 editions here).

The new Sixties Chronograph Annual Edition 2021 comes in a round, 42 mm stainless steel case that frames an eye-catching dark green dégradé dial produced in the dedicated manufactory in the town of Pforzheim, a city rich in the traditions of jewelry making around 600 km east of the headquarter in Glashütte.

Starting from a bright green at the centre, the colour flows across the curved surface, changing to a darker shade at the edge.

The low-relief pattern is produced using the original tools and methods from the 1960s. Each dial blank receives its embossing with the aid of a 60-tonne press.

 

Two white Arabic numerals are enhanced by incised hour markers with luminous dots. The rod-shaped hands have Super-LumiNova inlays. To protect the dial, a sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment on both sides protects the refined dial.

The sapphire crystal case back reveals the 39-34 automatic calibre driving the display of hour and minute and the small second, the second stop and the chronograph’s 30-minute counter. 

Beating at the frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) with an autonomy of 40 hours, this in-house designed and manufactured movement is meticulously finished with Glashütte stripes finish, bevelled edges and polished screws. The skeletonised rotor features an oscillating mass in 21-carat gold and is adorned with the characteristic double-G logo. 

Matched to a soft, grey-brown nubuck calfskin strap, the new Sixties Chronograph Annual Edition 2021 ref. 1-39-34-05-22-04 is available from Glashütte Original Boutiques and from selected dealers worldwide for a limited period of one year. Its retail price is Euro 8,100. glashuette-original.com
