Hands-on review of the Glashütte Original SeaQ Green. The SeaQ Green Dial 1-39-11-13-83-70 retails at €10,300. Glashuette Original 2021 novelties
Last March, Glashütte Original announced the latest version of its SeaQ diver's watch, a model characterised by the reed green colour of both the dial and the bezel.
We had the possibility to wear and test this model for a few days and we are now pleased to share our impressions and pictures.
The SeaQ offers excellent performances together with a refined look and no-compromise finishes that are not often found on a diver's watch. And while many timepieces designed for underwater diving look all the same, the SeaQ has its own style and design code.
The watch comes on a 39.5 mm case crafted from stainless steel, with satin-brushed and polished surfaces. Its total thickness, including the domed sapphire crystal, is 12.15 mm thick.
Thanks to is ideal size, the SeaQ sits very comfortably on standard wrists as well as on smaller ones.

Counter-clockwise rotating with a perceptible and precise click, the unidirectional bezel features a ceramic inlay that guarantees exceptional scratch-resistance. It is enhanced by a blue Super-LumiNova coated triangle to mark the dive start time in conformity to DIN 8306 and ISO 6425 standards for diver's watches.
Super-LumiNova is also used for the applied hour markers and the hands, making the indications perfectly readable in any light conditions.
In-house produced in Glashütte Original's specialised manufactory in Pforzheim, the reed green dial has a matt finish, useful to avoid reflections. The large Arabic numerals contribute to legibility at first glance and contribute to the unique style of this timepiece. The dial is completed by a date aperture positioned at 3 o'clock.
The large screw-down crown is engraved with the brand's double G-logo. When you unscrew the crown, you can notice a detail that is very useful for improved security: a clearly visible red section of the tube serves as a reminder for the wearer to screw down the crown to prevent water and dust from entering.
The SeaQ Green can be matched to a stainless steel bracelet, like the example used for our review, to an ultra-robust grey nylon mesh strap or to a black rubber strap.
The bracelet is perfectly executed with satin-brushed and polished surfaces. Its folding clasp features a comfort extension button, adorned with the distinctive double G-logo, which allows the bracelet length to be increased by approximately 5 mm.
The screwed-down caseback displays an engraved trident maritime symbol, the Glashütte Original double-G and 20 waves, which represent the 20-bar water resistance (approx 200 metres / 660 feet).
Inside we have the self-winding Calibre 39-11, a manufacture movement that beats at the frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) with an autonomy of 40 hours. Visible or not, each Glashütte Original movement is meticulously finished according to the highest standards, with bevelled edges, polished steel parts, polished screws, Glashütte stripe finish and swan-neck fine adjustment.
In just few years sinte its launch, the Glashütte Original SeaQ has become one of the most appealing diver's watches on the market offering a truly distinctive appearance. The SeaQ Green Dial with steel bracelet and extensible folding clasp ref. 1-39-11-13-83-70 has a price of Euro 10,300.

Better than Rolex
ReplyDeleteWell, the quality of the SeaQ is second to none. We highly recommend to try it on the wrist, either with a bracelet or its fabric strap. It's a pleasure to wear it and the look is just awesome.
