Hands-on Review: Club Automatic Olive Green by Nomos Glashütte

Review of the NOMOS Club Automatic Olive Green 753.S3 with live pictures, specs and prices. 753.S1 and 753.S2
Following our introductory article of the three new Club Automatic limited editions launched by Nomos Glashütte last week, we are now glad to share our live pictures and impressions of our favourite model, the Green Olive one.

The Club Automatic Olive Green Limited Edition comes in a 40 mm case in polished stainless steel. Its total thickness is 9.7 mm making the watch well proportioned. Water resistant to 200 metres / 660 feet, this model is extremely versatile: ready for a swim, perfect with a week-end casual fit but at ease also with a suit at the office.

The watch can be matched to a robust and ultra-comfortable light grey textile strap with pin buckle or to a satin brushed bracelet that, despite being crafted from solid stainless steel (and not from folded metal plates), is slender and very light, almost a steel "strap". Consisting of 145 individual parts, this bracelet is secured to the wrist by a specially developed deployant clasp.

The green dial has a a trendy olive hue that enhances the sportiness of the watch. Protected by a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating inside and out, it offers exceptional readability thanks to large hands and hour markers (alternating Arabic numerals and indexes) that are generously coated with a thick layer of Super-LumiNova emitting a blue glow if the watch was previously exposed to artificial or natural light.

The snailed small seconds counter at 6 o'clock and the yellow five-minute markers further enrich the refined dial.

The transparent sapphire crystal caseback reveals the DUW 5001 calibre, the first self-winding movement developed by the brand. Beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour and offering 43 hours of power reserve, this movement is equipped with a stop-seconds mechanism and the proprietary Nomos swing system adjusted according to chronometer standards.

As usual for the German brand, the movement and its openworked bidirectional winding rotor are finished with meticulous care displaying rhodium-plated surfaces with Glashütte ribbing, perlage and tempered blued screws.

An all-round and attractively priced timepiece, the Nomos Glashütte Club Automatic Olive Green (ref. 753.S3) is a Limited edition of 175 pieces with a price of Euro 1,960 / US$ 2,620 with strap or Euro 2,240 / US$ 2,920 with metal bracelet. Even if the watch is already sold out at the online shop of the brand, you might be lucky and find one through a retailer of the brand. The watch is delivered in an elegant full grain leather wallet. nomos-glashuette.com
