Cyrus is launching today the new Klepcys GMT Retrograde with dual time function. Prices of the new Cyrus Klepcys GMT Retrograde start from Euro 18,100
Cyrus is launching today the new Klepcys GMT Retrograde, a wristwatch with a cleverly designed dual time function that is powered by a completely new automatic manufacture movement and presented in a new streamlined Klepcys case with reduced diameter and thickness.
One of the most useful complications for frequent travellers or whoever needs to keep track of time in other countries, without being limited to these categories, the "second time zone" or GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) function makes it possible to display two time zones at once: local time and home time.
A master in the development of watch complications (in the last two years we got acquainted with their vertical tourbillon, moonphase, alarm and chronograph), Cyrus has not chosen a conventional approach for implementing this function.
Jean-Francois Mojon, Technical Director of the Manufacture (you can read our interview here), opted for an instantly readable retrograde display that stands out against a multilayered dial.
On a first level, the openworked rhodium-plated hour and minute hands indicate the local time on a transparent antireflective sapphire disc with Arabic luminescent numerals.
On a lower level, the upper plate of the movement has an elegant sunray openworked pattern providing a glimpse of the golden-hued wheels and gears.
The home time is indicated by a blue hand with triangular luminescent tip moving along a retrograde display in blue lacquer interrupted at 6 o'clock by a small seconds counter decorated with small raised triangles and treated with black PVD finish. The small second hand features a blue three-armed helix that is also a symbol of the brand.
All indications are enhanced by white Super-LumiNova with blue light emissions.
Setting the second time zone is super easy thanks to the two crowns featuring a caoutchouc rubber ring for improved grip.
The crown at 3 o'clock winds the movement in position 0 and adjust the hour and minute hands of local time when pulled out to position 1. When you perform this operation, the blue retrograde hand indicating the home time turns together with the local time hands.
At this point, the button of the fixed crown at 9 o'clock can be used to make the local time hand jump by one hour with every push until it displays the desired local time. During adjustment, indications of the minutes and the home time remain unchanged.
The new Klepcys GMT Retrograde maintains the case restyling that Cyrus introduced in 2018 for its Vertical Tourbillon but in a reduced diameter of 42 mm (excluding the crowns).
The watch is much thinner (13.9 mm) and, being crafted from grade 5 titanium, it is also very light on the wrist. It offers water resistance up to a pressure of 10 ATM, approximately 100 metres / 330 feet.
Three versions - each produced in limited edition of 50 pieces - are available: natural polished titanium, two-tone with a black DLC titanium bezel and all black DLC titanium.
The manufacture self-winding CYR708 calibre guarantees the highest precision standards. Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, it has an autonomy of 55 hours.
Through the sapphire crystal case back, it is possible to appreciate the meticulous finishes, including the anthracite grey NAC bridges with slightly curved sunrays in a satin and microbillé finish. The single-block oscillating mass is openworked with a style which recalls the design on the plate as seen from the dial.
Matched to a black caoutchouc rubber strap with a central groove bearing the Cyrus symbol and secured to the wrist by a titanium folding clasp, the Cyrus Klepcys GMT Retrograde has prices of Euro 18,100 in polished titanium (ref. 539.507.TT.A), Euro 18,300 in polished titanium with black DLC bezel (ref. 539.507.TD.A) and Euro 18,600 for the all black DLC titanium version. cyrus-watches.ch
