Aquastar - 2020 Deepstar Chronograph Re-Edition

Aquastar and its Deepstar diver's watch are back. Founded in 1962 in Geneva with the sole aim of creating watches and instruments for aquatic use, Aquastar’s major breakthrough came in 1965 with the Deepstar model.

The Synchron Group, owner of other brands like Aquadive, ISOfrane, Tropic, and Traser, is now relaunching the brand with a faithful reinterpretation of the Deepstar model, the 2020 Deepstar Chronograph Re-Edition.

With its uncluttered mono sub counter dial, combined with the small running indicator at 9 o'clock, and the patented multiple dive decompression bezel, the Deepstar offers an instantly recognizable design.

The 2020 Deepstar Chronograph Re-Edition retains all proportions of the original Deepstar from the 1960s while equipping the model with a Swiss made automatic Chronograph movement, instead of the hand-wound Valjoux 23, for even more versatility.

Water resistant to 200 metres / 660 feet, the watch comes in a 40.5 mm x 14.8 mm stainless steel case equipped with a bi-directional rotating bezel featuring a multiple dive non decompression table calculator according to the French Navy dive tables. 

Protected by a domed sapphire crystal with multiple anti-reflective coating, the dial is available in matte black, sunburst grey or sunburst blue. 

Hands and indices are filled with "Old Radium" Super-LumiNova" for enhanced visibility in poor light conditions.

Custom manufactured for the Deepstar by La Joux-Perret, the 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) self-winding movement is equipped with column wheel operated pushers and offers 55 hours of power reserve.

Limited to 300 pieces per dial colour, the Aquastar 2020 Deepstar Chronograph Re-Edition has a price of US$ 3,590 with the possibility to pre-order it now at the reduced price of US$ 2,790. 

Two straps are included in the pre-order: a tropic rubber strap matching the dial colour and a Horween shell cordovan leather strap, both with a stainless steel buckle. A beads of rice steel bracelet is expected to be available next year. aquastar.ch
