The new Greubel Forsey Balancier S in titanium comes with the typical oval case that houses the movement with 30° inclined balance wheel. The Greubel Forsey Balancier S has a price of Swiss francs 195,000 before sales taxes.
With the GMT Sport model launched in late 2019, Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey introduced a totally new case, characterised by sculpted lines and an ergonomic profile.
A second chapter is unveiled today with the launch of the new Greubel Forsey Balancier S.
Circular from above, this titanium case reveals the unique arched ovoid shape from other angles. It features integrated lugs and strap, and a satin-finished bezel engraved with Greubel Forsey’s key values.
The oval, arched sapphire crystal follows the curvature of the case that houses the perfectly integrated movement with a double suspended arched bridge holding an inclined gear train and curved central hour and minute hands and, below, the inclined balance wheel giving the timepiece its unique identity.
Distinguished by its oversized 12.6 mm diameter and beating at the frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz), the large balance wheel ensures chronometric performances. For fine adjustment of the moment of inertia, its rim is fitted with six gold regulating screws, inset so as to limit air friction.
The inclination angle of 30° with respect to the horizontal plane of the movement contributes to limit timing errors due to the effects of gravity on the regulating organ (balance wheel, spring and escapement) in stable positions.
With two coaxial barrels mounted in series, the 308-component movement has a 72-hour chronometric power reserve, indicated on a sector at 2 o’clock using an openworked red-tipped hand.
The central hours and minutes display, with profiled and openworked polished steel hands, is completed by a small seconds hand on the inclined plane of the escapement at 8 o’clock.
The state-of-the-art finishes – frosting, polished bevels and countersinks, circular and straight graining – are even more remarkable when you consider the use of titanium for the mainplate and bridges, a metal that is way more difficult to hand-finish than steel or even nickel silver.
The rubber crown and caseband with rubber inserts ensure excellent grip and protection of the timepiece. Measuring 45 mm in diameter, the watch is 15.60 mm high if you include the synthetic sapphire crystals (or 13.75 mm if you measure the case only).
Water resistant to 100 metres / 330 feet and matched to a robust rubber strap secured to the wrist by a titanium folding clasp, the Greubel Forsey Balancier S has a price of Swiss francs 195,000 before sales taxes. greubelforsey.com

Amazing timepiece. I think the case of the Movado Parlee had some similarities. Of course a totally different timepiece and level.
