Grand Seiko continues the celebration of its 60th anniversary with the 60th Anniversary Limited Edition Reference SBGH281, nicknamed "Superman" for its intense blue dial with red and yellow accents. The Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary Limited Edition “Superman” Ref. SBGH281 is a limited edition of 1,500 pieces with a price of Euro 6,200 / US$ 6,300.
Grand Seiko continues the celebration of its 60th anniversary since the creation, in 1960, of the first watch with the distinctive logo used by Seiko to identify their very best creations.
Together with other limited editions that we presented earlier this year (you can find these articles here), the Japanese brand also introduced the 60th Anniversary Limited Edition SBGH281, nicknamed "Superman" for its intense blue dial with red and yellow accents.
The new watch pays homage to the famous reference 44GS from 1967 whose design was the first ever expression of the recognizable Grand Seiko style.
Offering water resistance to 100 metres / 330 feet, the 40 mm × 13.3 mm stainless steel case is characterised by flat and mirror polished surfaces shaped by the signature Zaratsu finishing that create fascinating plays of light and shadows.
Protected by a dual-curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the inner surface, the blue dial makes the gold Grand Seiko symbol and vivid red seconds hand stand out clearly.
The indexes and hands have broad flat surfaces to ensure easy legibility in any light conditions. They are finished to the highest standards in the industry.
The "Superman" is powered by the high beat (36,000 vibrations per hour) Caliber 9S85 which delivers an accuracy of +5 to -3 seconds a day and a 55-hour power reserve, well balancing greater accuracy with excellent autonomy.
Its meticulous finishes and the openworked oscillating weight are visible through a screwed sapphire crystal case back decorated with the inscription "60th Anniversary 1960-2020" and the lion emblem.
Completed by a stainless steel bracelet with a three-fold clasp with push button release, the Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary Limited Edition “Superman” Ref. SBGH281 is a limited edition of 1,500 pieces with a price of Euro 6,200 (incl. VAT) / US$ 6,300 (excl. sales taxes). grand-seiko.com
