TAG Heuer released two new versions of its Aquaracer 43 mm Calibre 5 diver's watch just in time for the season.
Available in a brown or blue variation, the new Aquaracer 43 mm Tortoise Shell Effect Calibre 5 Automatic introduces two firsts to the collection. One has to do with the unidirectional rotating bezel that is enhanced by a never seen before tortoise shell effect using an innovative resin technique. The other is a new high-end rubber strap that features an alligator leather pattern and a steel folding clasp with double safety push buttons. This choice enhances the look of the watch while making it wearable during nautical activities.
Water resistant to 300 metres / 1,000 feet, the new Aquaracer comes in a 43 mm stainless steel case alternating polished and fine brushed surfaces and equipped with a screw-down crown.
The resin bezel with brown tortoise shell pattern is matched to a black sunray brushed dial while the blue one is perfectly in tone with a blue sunray brushed dial. The tip of the central seconds hand, the text Calibre 5 and the 5-minute markers in the outer circle are colour-coordinated.
Protected by a flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment and a magnifying lens over the date window at 3 o'clock, the dial offers excellent readability thanks to large hands and hour markers that are filled with white Super-LumiNova emitting green and blue glow.
The movement of choice is the self-winding Calibre 5 that beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a power reserve of 38 hours. The stainless steel screw-down caseback is engraved with the image of a vintage diver's helmet.
