Patek Philippe has just presented a new interpretation of its renowned rattrapante chronograph characterized by a platinum case and a precious Grand Feu enamel dial in blue.
Previously seen with black dial, the split-seconds or rattrapante chronograph is one of the most sought-after complication by collectors. This mechanism measures intermediate times while continuing to time an ongoing interval.
With the new eye-catching blue enamel dial, the new Ref. 5370P Split-Seconds Chronograph becomes even more attractive providing the watch with a contemporary touch and making the white gold applied Breguet numerals and leaf hands stand out beautifully.
The 30-minute chronograph counter and the small seconds sub-dial are symmetrically positioned at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock respectively. The French word "email" printed on the dial at 6 o'clock remarks the preciousness of this craft.
Graced with a concave dial and flanks with satin-finished recesses, the elegant platinum case measures 41 mm x 13.56 mm and features interchangeable sapphire crystal and solid platinum backs.
The two pushers at 2 and 4 o'clock control the basic chronograph functions while the pusher in the crown starts and stops the split-seconds hand.
As usual for Patek Philippe's platinum cases, we find a Top Wesselton diamond set in the caseband at 6 o’clock. The strap lugs are terminated with fine cambered white-gold cabochons.
The hand-wound CHR 29-535 PS calibre with two column wheels and horizontal clutch features several patented optimisations to reduce wear and need for maintenance.
Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, the movement offers between 55 and 65 hours (when the chronograph is disengaged) of power reserve. Finishes are outstanding as certified by the Patek Philippe Seal.
Matched to a blue alligator leather strap with platinum fold-over clasp, the Patek Philippe Ref. 5370P Split-Seconds Chronograph has an indicative price of Euro 240,000. patek.com
