Considered the heir of Patek Philippe’s 1941 classic Ref. 1518, the Ref. 5270 Perpetual Calendar Chronograph is now available in a new yellow gold version that joins the platinum version with salmon dial that was introduced in 2018.

Pairing a concave bezel with gadroonedlugs, the 41 mm x 12.4 mm case is water resistant to 30 metres / 100 feet. The rectangular pushers are satin-finished on the side, polished on top.

The silvery opaline dial with applied baton indexes and leaf-shaped hands in yellow gold has the typical layout of Patek Philippe chronographs with perpetual calendar: day and month in a double aperture at 12 o’clock, analog date with an integrated moon-phase indication at 6 o’clock, subsidiary seconds at 9 o’clock, and a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock.

These displays are complemented with two small round apertures for the day/night indication and the leap year cycle. The tachymeter scale on the circumference of the dial allows speed readings with the chronograph hand.

The sapphire-crystal case back showcases the caliber CH 29-535 PS Q movement, the first chronograph movement with a perpetual calendar developed completely in the manufacture’s workshops.

Beating at 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and composed of 456 parts, this hand-wound movement combines traditional architecture (horizontal clutch, column wheel and manual winder) with six patented innovations for the chronograph functions improving accuracy and reliability over time. The power reserve is 55 to 65 hours with the chronograph disengaged. A interchangeable solid back in 18K yellow gold is also delivered.
