Panerai is launching the hand-wound Luminor Blu Mare 44 mm PAM01085. The price is Euro 5,400 (incl. VAT) / US$ 5,500 (excl. sales tax).
Following the introduction of a blue dial version of the automatic Luminor Marina PAM 01313 last June, Panerai is now launching the hand-wound Luminor Blu Mare 44 mm PAM01085. The name “Blu Mare”, the Italian for “blue sea”, is a clear reference to the marine heritage of the brand.
Crafted from AISI 316L steel, the 44 mm x 13.05 mm case with its patented crown protection device recalls the lines and details of the celebrated Panerai models of the 1990s.
The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal and enhanced by satiné soleil decoration along with hour and minute hands with a rhodium finish. The typeface applied to the numerals at the cardinal points of the dial are a further reference to models from the end of the 20th century. They have been etched exactly like the linear indexes and then filled with green Super-LumiNova to guarantee a sharper and more lasting legibility in low light conditions.
Dating back to the 1980s, the double arrow “OP” logo is a stylized representation of the Officine Panerai’s initials.
A dodecagonal pressure-fit case-back in brushed steel hides the in-house produced P.6000 calibre that replaces the old Unitas-based OP XI movement. Beating at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour) and offering a power reserve of three days, this hand-wound movement is particularly robust thanks to the twin bridges supporting the regulator and an Incabloc shockproof device.
Water-proof up to 10 bar (about 100 meters / 330 feet), the new Luminor Blu Mare 44 mm is completed by a blue calfskin strap with beige stitching and secured with a pin buckle in brushed steel. In respect of tradition, the strap is attached to the lugs with the Panerai Screw System.
