Omega Constellation 41. Omega is presenting today the new Constellation Master Chronometer 41 mm models with ceramic bezels. Prices of the new Omega Constellation Gents Collection 41 mm start from Euro 5,600 (including VAT) / US$ 5,850 (excluding sales taxes) for the model in steel with steel bezel and Euro 6,200 (including VAT) / US$ 6,500 (excluding sales taxes) for the model in steel with ceramic bezel.
Following the introduction of the fifth generation of the Constellation Gents’ collection at the beginning of the year, Omega is presenting today eight new models all coming in 41 mm cases (instead of 39 mm).
While maintaining many of the typical design traits of the collection launched in 1952, such as the iconic claws and the half-moon facets at either end of the case, the new Constellation Master Chronometer 41 mm have a bolder look. They are available in stainless steel, 18K gold, or a combination of both.
Except for one model featuring a stainless steel bezel, all the new watches are enhanced by polished ceramic bezels, somehow replicating the look of the original Constellation Manhattan of 1982, which used shiny sapphire glass. The Roman numerals - a signature of the collection - have been produced in either Omega Ceragold or Liquidmetal.
Bevelling along the edges of the case and claws provided the collection with a more slender look compared to models of the past, and even the crown has been reshaped for added style.
Protected by domed scratch-resistant sapphire crystals with anti-reflective treatment on both sides, the dials are available in a wide range of variations, with sun-brushed or silk-embossed finishes. The hands have been streamlined while the new indexes take their inspiration from the Manhattan skyline, in particular from the triangular facets of the Freedom Tower. The date window is positioned at 6 o'clock position for perfect symmetry.
The sapphire crystal casebacks displays the self-winding Omega Master CoAxial Calibre 8900 (for steel and steel/gold models) or Calibre 8901 (for gold models). The latter is enriched by 18K Sedna gold rotor and balance bridge.
All watches have been Master Chronometer certified by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS). They offer resistance to magnetic fields reaching 15,000 gauss thanks to their free sprung-balance with silicon balance spring. The two barrels mounted in series guarantees a power reserve of at least 60 hours.
Most of the new 2020 models will be presented on leather straps with an anti-bacterial rubber lining. A decorative metallic link connects each side of the strap to the case.
Interestingly, any bracelet or strap in the Constellation 39 mm collection can be used for the new 41 mm models. The watches are water resistant up to 5 bar (50 metres / 167 feet).
