To celebrate 175 years of watchmaking art practiced in the small Saxon town of Glashütte, local company Nomos Glashütte introduced three limited editions of one of its most classical models, the Ludwig.
Each of the three special Ludwig anniversary watches will be produced in a limited edition of 175 pieces in stainless steel with an enamel-white dial, blue-tempered leaf hands, and a classical railroad track minute scale to encircle the Roman numerals.
The first model, the Ludwig Ref. 205.S2, comes in a 35 mm x 6.8 mm tripartite case and is powered by the hand-wound Alpha caliber. Adjusted to chronometer standards, this movement beats at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour) with a power reserve of 43 hours. Water resistance is 3 atm (splash-proof). Price: Euro 1,800.
The Ludwig neomatik 39 Ref. 250.S1 measures 38.5 mm in diameter and it is 7 mm thick. For this model, the movement of choice is the ultra-thin (only 3.2 mm) DUW 3001 automatic caliber. Also adjusted to chronometer standards, this 3 Hz movement is equipped with the Nomos swing system which gives this model the additional title of ‘neomatik’ and has an autonomy of 43 hours. Water resistance is 5 atm (suitable for showering). Price: Euro 2,900.
The Ludwig neomatik 41 Date Ref. 261.S1 is 40.5 mm in diameter but still very thin at just 7.7 mm in thickness, a feat that is possible thanks to the in-house built DUW 6101 automatic caliber (3.6 mm thick). Beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour, it offers up to 42 hours of power reserve. The extra-large aperture near the perimeter of the dial at 3 o'clock displays the date in Roman numerals, a first for the brand. The quick-set mechanism makes it easy to adjust the date in both directions with the crown. The watch is water proof up to a pressure of 5 atm. Price: Euro 3,300.
All three new Ludwig anniversary watches feature sapphire crystal casebacks to display the beautiful finishes of their movement, refined with Glashütte ribbing, tempered blue screws, and perlage.
All models are matched to Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan black straps secured to the wrist by a stainless steel buckle. nomos-glashuette.com
