The Grande Seconde Off-Centered Chronograph by Jaquet Droz is now available, for the first time, with an onyx dial. The Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Off-Centered Chronograph Onyx ref. J007830270 has a price of Euro 21,500.
Introduced in 2019 in a choice of sand-blasted silver, blue or taupe gray dial matched to a steel case or a precious Grand Feu enamel dial framed by a red gold case (you can read our presentation article here), the Grande Seconde Off-Centered Chronograph by Jaquet Droz is now available, for the first time, also with an onyx dial.
In line with its long tradition of using precious stones for the dials of its creations, Jaquet Droz takes advantage of the absolute blackness of onyx to confer the dial of this new model an incredible depth and intensity. The perfect black colour of this mineral makes each detail of the composition really stand out.
Off-centered at 1 o'clock, the applied hour markers in white gold feature a circular satin finish. The hands are mirror polished, while those of the chronograph and date are polished. The large central seconds is equipped with an openwork counterweight. The retrograde date, located at 7 o’clock, encircles the chronograph’s 30-minute counter.
The 43 mm x 14.83 mm stainless steel case with the crown at 4 o’clock houses the Jaquet Droz 26M5R caliber, an automatic monopusher chronograph with column wheel that is showcased through the sapphire crystal.
The openwork oscillating weight in red gold offers an unobstructed view of the traditional Fine Watchmaking finishes, including the Cotes de Genève decoration applied to each bridge.
Beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour and delivering a 40-hour power reserve, this movement incorporates a silicon balance spring that guarantees resistance to magnetic fields and temperature variations.
Matched to a rolled-edge hand-made black alligator strap, the Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Off-Centered Chronograph Onyx ref. J007830270 has a price of Euro 21,500. jaquet-droz.com
