One of the most successful models in the MeisterSinger collection, the Perigraph is also one of our favourite single-hand watches from the renowned German watchmaker.
The combination of a sporty case, an eye-catching dial, a reliable movement and reasonable pricing makes this timepiece very appealing.
Recently, we had the opportunity to wear and test the Perigraph reference AM10Z17B, introduced earlier this year, for a few days and we are now delighted to share our impressions.
This model maintains the peculiarity of featuring a single hand to indicate the time: needle-sharp and red-tipped, this large hand sweeps over the 12 hours divided by 144 markers, each representing 5 minutes.
The display principle is similar to that of the first mechanical clocks which used just one hand to indicate the time of the day (you can read more about single-hand timepieces in watchmaking history here).
In addition, the Perigraph also indicates the date by means of a concentric ring that rotates openly in the center of the dial. Each day at midnight it advances by one step showing the current date just below 12 o'clock, as highlighted by the small red arrow above the MeisterSinger logo.
The matt black of the date ring alternates with the sunburst blue of the dial that changes hue depending on the light. White typography and red markings complete the composition emphasising the sportiness of the watch.
The symmetrical dial offers excellent legibility even in poor light conditions thanks to the rich Super-LumiNova coating used for the single hand and the hour numerals and indices.
The round case is 43 mm in diameter and 11.5 mm high, domed sapphire crystal included, and guarantees water-resistance up to 5 bar (approximately 50 metres / 165 feet). Crafted from stainless steel, it features a satin-brushed finish which enhances the sporty character of the timepiece. The large crown is adorned with an embossed MeisterSinger logo, the musical notation for a pause.
Thanks to curved lugs, the watch sits comfortably on the wrist, well secured by a brown cordovan leather strap with with strong stitching and a steel pin buckle. Several strap options are available.
Based on the 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) Swiss automatic Sellita 200-1 and offering an autonomy of 38 hours, the 25-jewel movement can be viewed through the 6-screwed glass exhibition back. Meticulously refined, it features a rotor engraved with the logo of the brand.
Very well executed in all details, the MeisterSinger Perigraph ref. AM10Z17B has a retail price of Euro 1,990 indeed offering excellent value for the money together with a unique look. meistersinger.com
