Eberhard - Scafograf 300 “MCMLIX” Edition

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the model, Eberhard is introducing the Scafograf 300 MCMLIX Edition, The Eberhard Scafograf 300 MCMLIX ref. 41034V.07 has a price of Euro 2,480 with strap or Euro 3,060 with metal bracelet.

Launched by Eberhard & Co. in 1959, the Scafograf was one of the most successful diving watches of the 1960s and one of the most iconic creations of the company headquartered in La Chaux-de-Fonds.

This model incorporated all the main features required for a diving watch: automatic, with a shock-resistant steel case, an extensible bracelet, a graduated black bezel to control elapsed dive time and a high-contrast dial with luminescent hands and markers.

The first two models - Scafograf 100 and Scafograf 200 - were water resistant to 100 and 200 metres respectively. Their huge success convinced Eberhard to further improve performances with a new version created for professional divers, the Scafograf 300, offering water resistance up to 300 metres.

In 2016, Eberhard presented the re-edition of the Scafograf 300, a diving watch whose qualities were recognized by several awards including the Sports Watch Prize at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève. This watch was followed by a GMT model also available in an all-black version.

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Scafograf, the Swiss brand is now introducing the Scafograf 300 “MCMLIX” Edition, where the Roman numerals refer to the birth year of the collection and the 300 to the water resistance of the watch: 300 metres / 1,000 feet.

Framed by a unidirectional rotating bezel with vintage luminescent markings on the first 15 minutes scale and protected by a domed and anti-reflective sapphire crystal, the all-black dial is an eye-catcher with its applied hour markers, round and triangle-shaped (at 6, 9 and 12 o’clock).

The hours hand characterized by a triangular tip like the 1959 original, the "baton-type” minutes hand, the central lollipop seconds hand and the rectangular date aperture at 3 ‘clock complete the dial composition. The numerals “MCMLIX” are imprinted on the dial.

Hands and markers are all treated with vintage Super-LumiNova.

The 43 mm x 12,60 mm stainless steel case is equipped, at 9 o'clock, with a valve enabling the release of helium. The caseback is decorated with the symbol of the collection, a star fish.

Featuring the embossed "E" of the brand logo, the screw-in crown is protected by two guards, a detail that enhances the look of the watch while making it even sturdier.

Perfectly integrated with the case, the black rubber strap features a large "E" shield on the outside and smaller shields on the inside for enhanced comfort on the wrist. A vintage looking leather strap and a steel bracelet with deployment clasp are also optionally available.

Inside, the reliable ETA 2824-2 self-winding movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a power reserve of around 40 hours.
