In line with the tradition of the brand of developing innovative materials, the new EcoPangaea is crafted from high-tech steel. Composed of recycled metal from the 35-meter drive shaft of the Pangea, Mike Horn’s sailing ship, the material has been purified, perfected and finally shaped into an extraordinary Submersible, the first in the collection equipped with a tourbillon.
Featuring a 50 mm case with an inner soft iron ring to protect the movement from magnetic fields, the new Submersible is enhanced by a unidirectional rotating bezel with polished indexes on a sandblasted base.
The hours, minutes and GMT hands and the hour markers suspended on the rehaut are filled with Super-LumiNova for enhanced readability in poor light conditions.
The small seconds at 9 o’clock are visually balanced by the AM/PM indicator at 3 o’clock. Recognizable for their “Arctic” blue colour, the indications are completed by a power reserve indicator at 7 o'clock.
Made in titanium and beating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vph), the skeletonized hand-wound caliber P.2005/T sports a 30-second tourbillon that rotates along a perpendicular axis and a series of three barrels responsible for a 6-day power reserve.
Water-resistant up to 30 bar (about 300 mt / 1,000 ft) the new timepiece comes with a black rubber strap and a second strap - also in black, with anthracite stitching and a Velcro closure - made of recycled PET material. A special tool to change the straps, a screwdriver for removing the buckle and a display box made of recycled plastic are the final elements of the special edition package.
