Created in respect of highest Fine Watchmaking standards, the Krayon Anywhere indicates the length of the day and the time at which the sun rises and sets. The Krayon Anywhere, whether in white gold (ref. C030-10) or in rose gold (ref. C030-20), has a price of Swiss Francs 116,000.
After the Everywhere model presented in 2017 (you can read about it here), Krayon is presenting its second creation, the Anywhere.
Created in respect of the highest Fine Watchmaking standards, this exclusive timepiece indicates the length of the day and the time at which the sun rises and sets.
But it accomplishes this feat in a unique way, by displaying the time of sunrise and sunset at any point on the globe chosen by its wearer, hence its name.
While the hyper-complicated Everywhere - winner of the Innovation Prize at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève in 2018 - was capable of indicating the time of sunset and sunrise at any point on the globe, the Anywhere takes advantage of the same patent to achieve a more personalized result.
The watch indicates the hours and minutes with dedicated hands in the central portion of the dial, surrounded by an annular zone upon which a small sun circulates in perpetual motion, indicating the time over 24 hours. The annular zone has two sectors for day and night cut from sapphire and hand-painted in contrasting colours. The dark blue section representing the night is enriched by small Super‐LumiNova stars.
The respective lengths of the sectors constantly change, indicating by their position the sunrise and sunset times that can be read from the fixed indicator ring.
These periods are directly linked to latitude. The North-South position determines the length of the day, which is equal to the night at the equator and gradually expands towards the white night near the Arctic Circle. To integrate this geographical factor, Krayon devised a mechanical positioning system based on racks and yokes rather than a fixed cam. At the customer's request, a Krayon watchmaker will make a simple adjustment to the movement, as often as desired.
The relative position of the two sapphire discs is determined not only by the reference position, but also by the calendar. To do this, Krayon Anywhere indicates the date and month with a hand‐counter at 6 o'clock. It is a simple calendar, for which every month lasts 31 days. It requires only five quick, straightforward annual adjustments, which can be made directly with the crown and in both directions.
Anywhere is available in two interpretations: one in white gold with blue dial and the other in rose gold with creamy white tones. The 39 mm diameter case is perfectly proportioned with a thickness of just 9 mm.
In both versions, the motif of the dial, also seen on the Everywhere model, is reprised on the face of the crown. A detail that demonstrates the attention to details, the hour markers are pyramid‐shaped appliques with a triangular base, identical in shape to the Y in Krayon’s identity.
Designed in the tradition of classic movements, the hand-wound calibre C030 created by Rémi Maillat, the founder of Krayon, has features that set it apart from all others.
The regulating mechanism for the day and night discs shows the intricacy of racks and yokes, with a distinctive screw system in the centre. On either side, two discreet screws facilitate adjustment by the watchmaker.
Guaranteeing a power reserve of 86 hours, its barrel is coupled to an elegant ratchet click. All perforations are countersunk. The shape of the bridges is particularly adorned, made of solid and fine lines that make the hand-made bevels really stand out.
Matched to a black or brown alligator strap, the Krayon Anywhere, whether in white gold (ref. C030-10) or in rose gold (ref. C030-20), has a price of Swiss Francs 116,000. krayon.ch

Incredible piece of art. But how one interested in buying a watch like this can see it in the flesh? I mean before spending so much money, I at least need to try and wear it. I have not found resellers in their site. Hey, I have not the budget for buying it. I am just curious!
ReplyDeleteFor watches like this you generally connect directly with the watchmaker and arrange a way to meet, either visiting their workshop (in this case in Neuchatel, Switzerland) or meeting in some location (independent watchmakers often make tours in various regions). This is something that adds pleasure to the buying experience! 😉
