Kari Voutilainen presented his latest wristwatch, the Voutilainen 28Sport, a model characterised by a sportier look compared to other creations of the brand. A limited edition of just 8 pieces, the Voutilainen 28Sport has a price of Swiss Francs 75,000.
Unanimously recognised as one of the most talented independent watchmakers, Kari Voutilainen is renowned for his exceptional attention to details that can be admired in his timepieces both from an aesthetic and a technical point of view.
The Finnish watchmaker based in Môtiers, Switzerland, just presented his latest wristwatch, the Voutilainen 28Sport, a model characterised by a sportier look compared to other creations of the brand.
Crafted from grade 5 titanium and manufactured in-house, the stylish and robust 39 mm x 13.40 mm case protects the hand-wound Vingt-8 movement and its large balance wheel allowing perfect regulation of the watch to within strict tolerances.
This movement features a rarely seen balance-spring system with the exterior of the spring using a typical Phillips overcoil and the internal curve using the little known Grossmann curve.
Two escapement wheels give a direct impulse to the balance through the impulse roller/jewel. This escapement is extremely efficient and requires much less energy than traditional lever escapements, offering benefits in terms of longevity and stability in day-to-day use.
Entirely built, fabricated, and assembled in Voutilainen workshops, the Vingt-8 is finished by hand to the highest standards of the classical watchmaking tradition. Beating at a frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour, it offers a power reserve of approximately 65 hours.
The elegant dial is made from silver and engine turned by hand. The central part and the small seconds sub-dial are in highly polished onyx.
Super-LumiNova is used for the white gold hands and around the orange hour indices to enhance legibility in poor light conditions.
