Following the launch of the revamped Master Control collection by Jaeger-LeCoultre and our articles on the Chronograph Calendar and Calendar models, today we present the new Master Control Geographic.
This travel watch has been part of the Master Control collection since 1990 becoming one of the most recognizable models of the entire line.
Rather than simply indicating the hour of a second time zone, the Geographic also displays the city name relating to the zone through an aperture at the bottom of the dial. This gives travellers the possibility of setting the second time by location, rather than needing to calculate the time difference. A small 24-hour night/day indicator is placed on the left of the second-time zone subdial.
The sunray-brushed dial is completed by a date subdial and a power reserve indicator. All the hands other than the hour and minute ones are blued to enhance legibility while adding a nice touch of colour. The outer circle is characterized by a wide, convex flange on which the elongated triangular indexes are set, perfectly following its profile.
Water resistant to a pressure of up to 5 bar (50 metres / 165 feet), the case has a diameter of 40 mm and is 10.96 mm thick with satin-brushed and polished finishes. Scratch-resistant sapphire crystals protect the front and back.
Beating at the frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), the new-generation self-winding Calibre 939 guarantees a power reserve of 70 hours.
