Jaquet Droz just unveiled two new variations for its successful Grande Seconde Skelet-One model. The new Jaquet Grande Seconde Skelet-One Plasma Ceramic ref. J003525542 has a price of Euro 24,600 while the new red gold model ref. J003523241 retails at Euro 34,900.
Jaquet Droz just unveiled two new variations of its successful Grande Seconde Skelet-One model that we recently reviewed here.
The first new version has a modern touch with its hi-tech case made of ceramic plasma. Used for the first time by the Swiss brand, this plasma is made by transforming white ceramic with gas heated to 20,000°C, giving it a unique metallic glow without adding any metal fragments to the process.
This core modification maintains all the inherent properties of ceramic. It is just as hard, lightweight and scratch-resistant as high-tech ceramic, a material that has widely stood the test of time.
The 41.5 mm x 12.48 mm case frames the 2663 SQ calibre, a self-winding movement whose gear train is entirely suspended and fixed to the skeletonised bridges that cross over the movement.
Equipped with silicon balance spring and pallet horns for greater longevity and increased precision, this 4 Hz (28,800 vph) movement guarantees 68 hours of power reserve thanks to its double barrel. Even the 18-ct white gold oscillating weight is skeletonised for total transparency.
The second model is more traditional but not less appealing. Its case is crafted from a particular red gold alloy that Jaquet Droz appreciates for its subtle accents of warm coppery tones. The case measures 41 mm x 12.30 mm, slightly smaller than the plasma ceramic model.
For this version, the 2663 SQ calibre features a red gold oscillating weight that perfectly harmonises with the case.
The rolled-edge hand-made gray alligator matches the gray of the bridges suspending the Grande Seconde's movement.
