Hermès is presenting three new variations of the Arceau L’heure de la lune. Both crafted from white gold, the Lunar meteorite version is a 36-piece limited edition with a price of Euro 35,000 while the Black Sahara edition comes in 30 pieces at Euro 44,000 each. A third version featuring a platinum case with a Martian meteorite dial will be created in just two pieces. Price of this edition has not yet been announced.
Following the launch of the Arceau L’heure de la lune at SIHH 2019 (you can read our article here), Hermès is presenting three new variations of this attractive model offering a unique interpretation of the moon phase complication.
The Arceau L’heure de la lune simultaneously displays the moon phases in both northern and southern hemispheres. In a provocative way, the displays have swapped cardinal points, with the south above and the north below.
At 12 o’clock, the moon is adorned by a Pegasus created by designer Dimitri Rybaltchenko. On the other side, at 6 o’clock, the view of the moon from the northern hemisphere provides a realistic depiction of its surface.
As they turn on a Lunar, Martian or Black Sahara meteorite dial, the two mobile counters displaying the time and date reveal the moon discs while maintaining their horizontal orientation.
The enchanting choreography is driven by a module exclusively developed for Hermès by Chronode and for which a patent has been filed. With a total thickness of just 4.2 mm, its 117 polished and bead-blasted components are incorporated within the 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) Manufacture Hermès H1837 movement.
The emblematic Arceau case designed by Henri d’Origny in 1978 has a diameter of 43 mm and is water resistant to 30 metres / 100 feet.
