In 2020 DOXA introduces a totally new reinterpretation of its legendary SUB 300 diver's watch with the SUB 300 Carbon Aqua Lung US DIVERS. The DOXA SUB 300 Carbon Aqua Lung US DIVERS Ref. 822.70.101AQL.20 is available for purchase on DOXA’s website at the appealing price of Euro 4,790.
One of the most iconic and appreciated diver's watch, the DOXA SUB 300 was launched in 1967 becoming an instant success thanks to its performance and features.
Rated to 30 ATM, i.e. water resistance to a depth of 300 meters / 1,000 feet, it marked a first with a patented rotating bezel that allowed the diver to calculate and monitor no-decompression dive times based on the official US Navy dive tables. The watch was immediately recognizable for its signature bright orange dial in lieu of conventional black or white dials.
This year, DOXA introduces a totally new reinterpretation of this legendary watch with the SUB 300 Carbon Aqua Lung US DIVERS.
Remarkable for being the first DOXA watch to be completely crafted from carbon, this model also marks the official renewal of the partnership with Aqua Lung, a relationship that goes back more than 50 years.
Commenting the partnership, Jan Edöcs, CEO of DOXA Watches, said: “DOXA has been experiencing an unprecedented revival over the past 12 months. The brand's unique history, the quality of our watches and our ability today to innovate and project ourselves into the future while staying true to our DNA are the key ingredients of a strategy that remains faithful to the principle established in 1889 by Georges Ducommun: to design and produce watches of high technical quality that are reliable and affordable. We are very proud of our heritage, and particularly happy to experience a success today – the fruit of passionate work – that exceeds all our expectations. In presenting the SUB 300 Carbon SUB Aqua Lung US Divers, I am delighted to announce today that we have formalized our partnership with Aqua Lung, with whom we share a long history and the same values: innovation, quality and customer service. With this collaboration, we again have a perfect combination of the world of diving with that of technical and reliable watchmaking. We look forward to working together with the Aqua Lung team, with the excellent understanding that we have enjoyed since we began our talks.”
Produced in an exclusive limited series of only 300 numbered pieces, the new SUB 300 Carbon Aqua Lung US DIVERS is extremely light compared to the stainless steel version: weight is just 87 grams / 3.06 ounces. Forged carbon also provides the watch with a unique style characterized by an iridiscent effect due to the alternating of jet black spots with shades of charcoal in a sort of hi-tech camouflage look.
Slightly different in each watch, the irregular pattern is achieved by working with randomly oriented carbon fibers. The reinforced structure is then heated and compacted to transform the soft, flexible layers into a super rigid and ultra-light form.
Measuring 42.50 mm x 45.00 mm with a thickness of 13.40 mm, the typical DOXA case features a pressure-resistant titanium chamber and a screw-down crown to protect the movement.
The scratch-resistant sapphire crystal is treated with an antireflective coating and slightly domed, a detail that adds beauty while adding a vintage touch in line with the history of the brand. Made of carbon like the case, the dial provides a perfect contrast to the various indications.
The white indices are clearly visible, as is the dual indication of dive time in minutes and depth in feet on the patented unidirectional rotating bezel for calculating and monitoring no-decompression dive times. The inserts of the diving scale defined by the bezel are white, with a white dot at 12 o'clock. The depth indications in feet on the outer bezel ring bezel are yellow for visual differentiation, with a yellow dot at 12 o'clock.
All dive-related markings have a Super-LumiNova luminescent coating to ensure optimum readability during dives under low visibility conditions. For the first time Doxa employs a bright yellow minute hand to match the renowned Aqua Lung logo at 7 o'clock.
All the self-winding mechanical movements that power the 300 units of the SUB 300 Carbon Aqua Lung US Divers edition are certified by COSC (“Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres”), which guarantees the chronometric performance and compliance with requirements in terms of precision, reliability, shock resistance, automatic winding and ease of maintenance.
Beating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), this movement guarantees a power reserve of not less than 40 hours.
Equipped with a black soft rubber strap with a black PVD-treated folding clasp, the DOXA SUB 300 Carbon Aqua Lung US DIVERS Ref. 822.70.101AQL.20 is available for purchase on DOXA’s website at the price of Euro 4,790. Soon our hands-on experience with this amazing diver's watch. doxawatches.com
