Omega is supporting the vintage market of its timepieces with a new instrument for collectors, the "Omega Certificate of Authenticity".
Authentic Omega timepieces older than 30 years can obtain this certification after being examined by the Omega Heritage Team who have access to extensive historical production records and servicing policies. During their examination process, they will inspect the current state of the timepiece and then decide if it qualifies for a Certificate of Authenticity.
This new service is different from the “Extract from the Archives” service that provides a customer with information about when their watch was produced. The Certificate of Authenticity is a complete validation expertise that provides extended information about the authenticity of the watch in its current condition.
To request the certification, owners can either present their vintage timepiece directly at Omega's headquarters in Switzerland, or to a participating Omega Boutique in their country. The cost for the expertise is Swiss Francs 800.
The current list of the participating Boutiques - expected to grow in the near future - include:
Europe
Omega Headquarters, Biel, Rue Jakob-Stämpfli 96
Geneva, Rue du Rhône 31
London, 12 Old Bond Street
Milan, Via Montenapoleone 9 (in the picture below)
Munich, Maximilianstrasse 16
Paris, 362-364 Rue Saint-Honoré
Zurich, Bahnhofstrasse 48
USA
Costa Mesa, South Coast Plaza Mall
New York, Fifth Avenue
Asia
Hong Kong, Causeway Bay, 38 Russell Street
Shanghai, Bund 19, No.23, East Nanjing Road
Singapore, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands
The new initiative will certainly help to grow confidence for people who are new to the buying market and, for the owners of the watches, it is a way to provide some official assurance when selling while adding some value to their timepieces. omegawatches.com
