A. Lange & Söhne Odysseus Datomatic
The biggest novelty from A. Lange & Söhne in 2019 is, without doubts, the Odysseus Datomatic, the first regularly produced timepiece in stainless steel of the brand. Equipped with a new self-winding movement as well as with an integrated steel bracelet, this blue-dial sporty-elegant watch is also the first Lange watch with a a screw-down crown and a water-resistant case (up to 12 bar corresponding to approximately 120 metres / 400 feet). Anonimo Nautilo Vintage
Available in various colour combinations, the Nautilo Vintage comes in a 42 mm cushion-shaped stainless steel case immediately recognisable for its screwed-down crown unusually placed at 4 o’clock. The unidirectional bezel is equipped with a ceramic insert that protects the watch from scratches while enhancing its appeal with its brilliance. Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Barakuda
While maintaining the look and feel of the historic model from the 1960s, the new Fifty Fathoms Barakuda takes advantage of the technical innovations resulting from the continuous research of Blancpain in the fields of scuba diving and watchmaking. Framed by a unidirectional bezel with a scratch-resistant domed sapphire insert, the black dial is punctuated by large red and white hour-markers coated with "old radium» type Super-LumiNova, just like the white-lacquered pencil-shaped hands. Chopard Alpine Eagle
Featuring integrated case and bracelet with polished and matt finishes, the new Alpine Eagle by Chopard is characterized by a round bezel punctuated by eight screws, grouped in pairs at the four cardinal points. These screws also serve a technical function by guaranteeing the water resistance of the watch to 100 metres / 330 feet. Glashütte Original SeaQ Collection
In 2019, Glashütte Original launched the new “Spezialist” collection. The first model in this new line is a diver’s watch presented in two main versions, SeaQ and SeaQ Panorama Date. All versions feature a unidirectional, counter-clockwise rotating bezel with a scratch-resistant ceramic inlay. The SeaQ, comes in a 39.5 mm steel case offering water resistance to 200 metres / 660 feet while the SeaQ Panorama Date, featuring a 43.2 mm stainless steel case is water resistant up to 300 meters / 1,000 feet. Nomos Glashütte Club Sport
The new Club Sport by Nomos Glashütte is a three-hand sporty model in stainless steel featuring a metal bracelet and a larger size compared to traditional Nomos timepieces. Guaranteeing water resistance to 300 metres / 1000 feet, the round 42 mm polished case is matched to a satin brushed bracelet. The Club Sport is powered by the in-house manufactured DUW 6101 calibre equipped with the Nomos proprietary swing system which gives this model the additional title of ‘neomatik’. Seiko Prospex 1970 Diver’s Re-creation Limited Edition
The new Seiko Prospex 1970 Diver’s Re-creation Limited Edition brings back the design of a famous diver's watch that the brand launched in 1970. With a diameter of 45 mm, the stainless steel case of the new edition is slightly larger than the original but faithful in every other respect to its design. The case has a super-hard coating and a dual-curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. Water resistant to 200 metres / 660 feet, this model is powered by the self-winding calibre 8L35 beating at a frequency of 4 Hz with a power reserve of 50 hours. Read the full article.
Urban Jürgensen One Collection
At Baselworld 2019, Urban Jürgensen presented the One Collection, two references and four new timepieces in the luxury steel watch category. The first model is Reference 5241, a 41 mm automatic three hand wristwatch with date and sweep seconds whose lines are defined by intersecting ellipses and circles framing a Soft White, Charcoal Grey or Urban Blue dial enhanced by a maritime wave style grains d ́orge guilloché decoration. Zenith Defy Inventor
Characterized by a monolithic regulating organ made of monocrystalline silicon, the new Zenith Defy Inventor beats at the extremely high frequency of 18 Hz. Endowed with a 50-hour autonomy, the single-piece Zenith Oscillator offers increased reliability and stability. The avant-garde dial is framed by a textured bezel crafted from Aeronith. Made of open-pore aluminium foam and stiffened with a polymer, Aeronith is the lightest aluminium composite in the world (three times lighter than titanium).
