The jury of the 19th Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix (GPHG), held in the Theatre du Leman, has chosen the 2019 winners in each of the fourteen main categories.
The international jury has awarded the “Aiguille d’Or” Grand Prix, the highest distinction honouring the finest timepiece of the year, to the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin Ref. 26586IP (click here to read the detailed article that we published on June 5, 2019). The special Innovation prize went to the Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Twin Beat Perpetual Calendar.
With its AMC watch, Urwerk won the Audacity award, rewarding the best watch, presented in one of the fourteen categories, with a non-conformist, offbeat approach to watchmaking.
The Horological Revelation prize rewarded a watch, created by a young brand (less than ten years of existence since its first model was commercialised) and entered in one of the fourteen categories. The winner was the Ming 17.06 Copper model.
Finally, the Special Jury Prize has been assigned to Luc Pettavino, Founder & Organiser of OnlyWatch, the biennial charity auction of one-off luxury timepieces created by the finest watch manufacturers in order to help finance research on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a degenerative neuromuscular disease.
