Somehow merging two fundamental concepts in our life, the new Urwerk UR-100 SpaceTime displays both time (hours and minutes) and space (distance travelled on Earth and distance travelled by Earth). Urwerk presented two editions to 25 pieces: the UR-100 Iron in titanium and steel, and the UR-100 Black in titanium and steel with black PVD. the Urwerk UR-100 SpaceTime has a price of Swiss Francs 48,000 before taxes.
Somehow merging two fundamental concepts in our life, the new Urwerk UR-100 SpaceTime displays both time (hours and minutes) and space (distance travelled on Earth and distance travelled by Earth).
The time is indicated by the signature hour satellites, but with a difference compared to previous models. In fact, together with a red-arrow-tipped minute pointer to indicate minutes, we find two other pointers that provide the wearer with some unusual information.
The first indicator at 10 o’clock evaluates the distance in kilometers that we have travelled on the Earth. It is based on the average speed of the rotation of the Earth on its axis at the equator, covering a distance of 555 km every 20 minutes.
Directly opposite at 2 o’clock, the hand indicates the distance covered by the Earth in its orbit around the sun – a journey spanning some 35,740 km every 20 minutes.
Urwerk presented two editions, each limited to 25 pieces: the UR-100 Iron in titanium and steel, and the UR-100 Black in titanium and steel with black PVD.
The shape of the case (measuring 41.0 mm x 49.7 mm x 14 mm) may remind Urwerk fans of the aesthetics of the brand’s early watches like the UR-101 and UR-102, actually using some of the original design elements of the early constructions.
The UR-100 SpaceTime is driven by the automatic 4 Hz (28,800 vph) Caliber 12.01, with baseplates in ARCAP and a power reserve of 48 hours. The automatic winding rotor is regulated by a flat turbine, the Windfäng (Swiss German for "air trap") that minimizes shocks to the rotor bearing and reduces over-winding and wear and tear.
The rotor, which is partially supported on its periphery by the flat turbine, also has a larger diameter, resulting in a lower mass and therefore less wear.
Pressure tested to 3 ATM (approximately 30 metres / 100 feet), the Urwerk UR-100 SpaceTime has a price of Swiss Francs 48,000 before taxes. urwerk.com
