In 2019, for the new Big Crown ProPilot X Calibre 115, Oris takes it one step further with the development of a fully skeletonised movement, the hand-wound Calibre 115 beating at 21,600 vph. The price of the Oris Big Crown ProPilot X Calibre 115 is CHF 6,800 with strap (ref. 115 7759 7153 5 22 04 TLC) or CHF 7,200 with bracelet (ref. 115 7759 7153 7 22 01 TLC).
In 2014, Oris celebrated its 110 years of history introducing the Calibre 110, an in-house developed movement that carried a 10-day power reserve, a patented non-linear power reserve indicator and a small seconds.
In 2019, for the new Big Crown ProPilot X Calibre 115, Oris takes it one step further with the development of a fully skeletonised movement - the hand-wound Calibre 115 beating at 21,600 vibrations per hours - with the idea to showcase in detail how a mechanical watch works. Even the barrel at 12 o’clock is skeletonised: this way, when you wind the crown, you can see the mainspring coiling tighter and tighter until it’s fully wound and ready to deliver 10 days of uninterrupted power.
Skeletonisation is not a novelty in the watchmaking industry but Oris opted for a pretty unusual approach avoiding any unnecessary decoration. Bridges are matt grey, rather than polished or engraved. The edges have not been chamfered or bevelled but left in their natural state.
The imposing 44 mm case is crafted from titanium with a brushed finish and features a coin-edged bezel inspired by jet engine turbines. Titanium was chosen for its lightness, durability and hypoallergenic properties. Thanks to its screw-in security crown, the watch is water resistant to 100 metres / 330 feet.
Protected by a sapphire crystal with double-sided anti-reflective coating, the dial features hands and indices filled with Super-LumiNova.
The watch can be matched to a multi-piece titanium bracelet or to a black leather strap, both fitted with a titanium ‘lift’ clasp.
The price of the Oris Big Crown ProPilot X Calibre 115 is Swiss Francs 6,800 with strap (ref. 115 7759 7153 5 22 04 TLC) or Swiss Francs 7,200 with bracelet (ref. 115 7759 7153 7 22 01 TLC). oris.ch
