The new Aviator 8 Mosquito from Breitling is a tribute to the de Havilland Mosquito, a plane constructed in the early 1940s. The Breitling Aviator 8 Mosquito is presented on a brown vintage-leather strap available with either a pin buckle (ref. AB01194A1B1X1 ) or a folding buckle (ref. The new Aviator 8 Mosquito from Breitling is a tribute to the de Havilland Mosquito, a plane constructed almost entirely of wood whose speed and maneuverability contributed to its success in the early 1940s.

The latest addition to the Aviator collection features a 43 mm stainless steel case and a black satin-brushed ADLC-coated stainless steel bezel with a red pointer, indexes, and Arabic numerals. Compared to usual DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating, the ADLC (Amorphous Diamond Like Carbon) treatment provides an even darker tone while further enhancing hardness.

Its black dial has contrasting silver subdials – a characteristic of the Aviator 8 models powered by the Breitling ­Manufacture Calibre 01 in-house movement.

The orange central hour, minute, and central second hands are coated with Super­-LumiNova, making the watch legible even in poor light situations. Red and orange accents are used to recall the roundels and markings featured on the fuselage of the de Havilland Mosquito. The dial is completed with a date window between 4 and 5 o’clock.

Visible through a transparent sapphire caseback, the Breitling Manufacture Calibre 01 offers a power reserve of approximately 70 hours and beats at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour). It is certified as a chronometer by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).
