The tenth and last piece created by A. Lange & Söhne to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of its most iconic watch, the Lange 1 created in 1994, is a very precious one: the Lange 1 Tourbillon “25th Anniversary”, a watch for special occasions which combines an outsize date and a power reserve indication, powered by a three-day movement, with a truly spectacular tourbillon.
Like the previous anniversary timepieces, this 25-watch limited edition is presented in silver and blue with the 38.5 mm white gold case setting the stage for a solid-silver, argenté coloured dial that makes the blued steel hands, as well as all the inscriptions, really stand out.
Suspended between two diamond endstones, the one-minute tourbillon features a patented stop-seconds mechanism allowing the balance inside the rotating tourbillon cage to be stopped instantaneously.
The tourbillon can be admired in all its beauty in a generous aperture in the dial and through the
glass units disc of the outsize date.
Integrated in the dial, the tourbillon cock is black polished. Using special abrasive pastes, the part is manually polished on a zinc or tin plate until it appears to be black at a certain angle of incident light.
The back side adds even more appeal to this exclusive timepiece with handmade engravings on the tourbillon bridge and the intermediate-wheel cock. The colour concept of the Anniversary editions is reprised in the blue-filled recesses of the engraving.
The anniversary number 25 is depicted in relief on the intermediate wheel cock. As regards typography and form, it corresponds to the Lange outsize date which is set to 25 in all photos. The same number also refers to the strict limitations of all anniversary models.
Comprised of 381 parts, the hand-wound manufacture calibre L961.4 beats at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vph) with a power reserve of 72 hours when fully wound.
Priced at Euro 165,000 in Germany (including local VAT), the Lange 1 Tourbillon “25th Anniversary” ref. 722.066 completes the special Lange 1 celebration series. For collectors, there is a watch box with all ten models available. Discover them all, together with other A. Lange & Söhne novelties, by clicking here. alange-soehne.com
