Launched at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie of Geneva in 2018, the Polaris collection by Jaeger-LeCoultre is expanding with a new creation, the Polaris Date Blue Limited Edition.
Drawing inspiration from the 1968 Polaris Memovox with its elongated Arabic numerals, trapezoidal hour markers, baton-style hands and inner rotating bezel, this 800-piece limited edition features a new hand-lacquered, blue double-gradient dial with sunrayed, grained and opaline finish.
The central disc and main dial incorporate an attractive color-change effect - from deep turquoise to a brilliant shade of royal blue.
The luminescent coating for hands and hour markers is vanilla-tinted, a detail which enhances the vintage style of this timepiece.
The blue theme is completed by a rubber Clous de Paris strap.
Crafted from stainless steel, the case measures 42 mm in diameter and has two crowns, one to adjust the time, the other to control the rotating bezel. Incorporating brushed and hand-polished surfaces, it guarantees water resistance to 200 meters / 660 feet.
The movement of choice is the in-house self-winding Calibre 899A/1 which beats at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vph) while offering a power reserve of 38 hours. It is secured by a closed caseback, which has four special engravings, including a Scuba diving insignia, the Jaeger-LeCoultre crest, and the phrase "1000 HOURS CONTROL" denoting the assembled watch has undergone 1,000 hours of testing before leaving the Manufacture.
