Following the release of the "50 Years of El Primero" Anniversary Set last January and the three El Primero A386 Revival models in white, rose or yellow gold on occasion of Baselworld 2019, Zenith is now presenting the El Primero A384 Revival, a historically accurate recreation of one of the most emblematic chronographs ever made and the final piece in the El Primero 50th Anniversary Revival series.
The A384 was the first El Primero model to be presented in advertisements in 1969, announcing to the world the first fully integrated, selfwinding chronograph movement.
For the A384 Revival, Zenith sought to preserve and reproduce just about everything from the original watch by adopting a “reverse engineering“ approach, where every component is faithful to the original. Each part of the original A384 from 1969 was digitized so as to be accurately reproduced, from the 37 mm faceted steel case to the lacquered white and black tachymeter dial with the typical three-counter layout (30-minute counter at 3 o'clock, 12-hour counter at 6 and small seconds at 9).
The only differences are the sapphire crystal instead of an acrylic glass, the transparent display back replacing the solid steel case back, and the latest version of the El Primero 400 chronograph movement. The legendary column-wheel chronograph movement fast beats at a frequency of 5 Hz (36,000 vibrations per hour) with a power reserve of 50 hours.
Matched to a black alligator leather strap with a black rubber lining, the Zenith El Primero A384 Revival (ref. 03.A384.400/21.C815) is not a limited edition model and has a price of Swiss Francs 7,900.
An integrated metal “ladder” bracelet option, inspired to the look of the one from the original 1969 El Primero A384, is also available. The watch is water-resistant to 10 ATM (around 100 metres / 330 feet). zenith-watches.com
