In 2019, Breguet presented two new Reine de Naples models.
The first is the Reine de Naples 8918 (ref. 8918BB/5P/964 D00D). Enhanced by a captivating red, this model comes in a 36.5 × 28.45 mm white gold case. With the second model, the Reine de Naples 8967 (ref. 8967ST/E8/786), Breguet adds a contemporary update to the collection.
Breguet's Reine de Naples collection is inspired by an early bracelet watch that Abraham-Louis Breguet created for Bonaparte's sister Caroline, Queen of Naples. With its unique ovoid case, this watch has become one of Breguet’s bestsellers as well as a symbol of feminine refinement.
In 2019, Breguet presented two new Reine de Naples models.
The first is the Reine de Naples 8918 (ref. 8918BB/5P/964 D00D). Enhanced by a captivating red, this model comes in a 36.5 × 28.45 mm case crafted from white gold with finely fluted sides. The bezel and the dial flange are set with 117 diamonds weighing approximately 0.99 carats. The crown is set with a cabochon-cut ruby weighing 0.27 carats.
The Breguet Arabic numerals appear in garnet on the white mother-of-pearl hours chapter. The white gold center of the dial is engraved with a clou de Paris guilloché pattern, then powdered and silvered. Fine blued Breguet hands indicate the minutes and hours in red numerals. Placed at 6 o’clock, a pear-shaped diamond punctuates the hours chapter.
The sapphire caseback reveals the 3.5 Hz self-winding manufacture caliber 537/3, which has a power reserve of 45 hours.
The red alligator leather strap features a buckle set with 26 diamonds weighing approximately 0.12 carats.
With the second model, the Reine de Naples 8967 (ref. 8967ST/E8/786), Breguet adds a contemporary update to the collection. This new creation in steel - much larger than reference 8918 with a case size of 43 × 34.95 mm - is adorned with a blue-lacquered dial and a matching denim strap.
The dial stands out thanks to a deep-blue lacquer with turquoise blue scrolls. To achieve the starry sky effect, the artisan places a touch of clear lacquer on still-liquid dark material. When combined in this manner, the colors mix spontaneously to form a unique painting.
The Breguet Arabic numerals 6 and 12 are at the top and bottom of the dial, painted in white relief. The hours chapter – off-center at 6 o’clock – follows the oval shape of the case.
For use at night, a luminescent material – blue in the dark – has been used to illuminate the hands. Finally, the Breguet signature is engraved between 9 and 12 o’clock, followed by the timepiece’s individual number.
The transparent sapphire caseback reveals the 591C caliber and the engine-turned, solid-gold rotor. The use of silicon with non-magnetic properties for the escapement and the balance spring ensures a reliable precision movement with a frequency of 4 Hz.
Both watches are water-resistant to 3 bar (30 meters / 100 feet). breguet.com
