Launched in 2012, the Octo by Bulgari immediately created lot of buzz for its daring and innovative design. The bold approach to watchmaking of the brand was rewarded by exceptional success.
Over the years, Bulgari developed several variations, like the Octo Finissimo or the Octo Roma, but the original design still remains in the collection with the name Octo L'Originale (the Original in Italian).
Two new Octo L'Originale timepieces, a three-hand model and a chronograph, were presented earlier this year and they are now available.
Maintaining size and proportions of the earliest Octo, the Octo L’Originale Solotempo ref. 103085 comes in a 41 mm sandblasted steel case treated with DLC and enhanced by a 18kt rose gold octagon. Rose gold is also used for the crown and, in the anthracite dial, for the hands and the applied indexes.
The Octo L’Original Solotempo is powered by a mechanical self-winding movement - the Calibre BVL 191 Solotempo, driving the hours, minutes, seconds and date functions - which offers a 42-hour power reserve. Visible through a sapphire crystal case back, the movement is chamfered, snailed and adorned with Côtes de Genève motif.
The Bulgari Octo L’Originale Solotempo ref. 103085 has a price of Euro 8,400 / US$ 8,650.
The second model, the Octo L’Originale Chronograph ref. 103075 is a three-counter chronograph powered by the self-winding BVL 328 Velocissimo calibre, a high-frequency (5 Hz) mechanical movement equipped with a silicon escapement.
Chamfered, snailed and adorned with Côtes de Genève motif, this column-wheel chronograph offers 50 hours of power reserve and is visible through the transparent caseback.
The materials of the 41 mm case are the same used for the Solotempo: sandblasted steel with black-DLC treatment and 18kt rose gold details.
The eight-sided crown has a black ceramic insert. Perfectly integrated with the design of case, the push buttons also act as crown guards.
The Bulgari Octo L’Originale Chronograph ref. 103075 has a price of Euro 11,500 / US$ 11,800.
Matched to integrated rubber straps with folding clasps, both watches are water-resistant to 100 metres / 330 feet. bulgari.com
