Vacheron Constantin launched a new version of one of its most emblematic models, the Patrimony Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin, characterized by a sunburst satin-finished blue dial framed by a 41 mm pink gold case.
The self-winding manufacture 1120 QP calibre drives the indications of the hours, minutes, moon phase at 6 o'clock and perpetual calendar with day of the week in a counter at 9 o'clock, date in a counter at 3 o'clock, as well as month and leap year on 48-month counters at 12 o'clock.
Unlike simple calendars that require manual adjustment after each month of less than 31 days, the perpetual calendar takes account of the leap-year cycle, with its 31, 30 or 28-day months and the quadrennial return of February 29th. This means that once correctly set, and assuming that the watch runs continuously, the calendar indications will require no further manual adjustment until the year 2100.
The moon phase display is adorned in champlevé enamel whose colour is only revealed after ultra-precise firing at very high temperature (approx. 1000°C).
Beating at a rate of 2.75 Hz (19,800 vibrations per hour) and guaranteeing an autonomy of 40 hours, the Calibre 1120 QP measures a mere 4.05 mm thick, a real feat of engineering for a self-winding perpetual calendar movement. Visible through the transparent sapphire crystal caseback, the openwork Maltese cross-shaped oscillating weight comprises no less than 276 components and is outstandingly finished.
Matched to a dark blue of the alligator leather strap equipped with a folding clasp, the Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin Blue Dial (ref. 43175/000R-B519) has a price of Euro 79,000 (Tax Included) / US$ 78,000 (Tax Excluded).
This new perpetual calendar watch is the fourth of a new Patrimony series with blue dials which includes hand-wound, self-winding and retrograde day-date models with prices starting from Euro 18,800 (Tax Included) / US$ 18,600 (Tax Excluded). vacheron-constantin.com
