The first model in this new line is a diver’s watch presented in two main versions, SeaQ and SeaQ Panorama Date, and one limited edition, the SeaQ 1969.
The “Spezimatic Type RP TS 200”, the brand’s first diver’s watch created in 1969, served as an ideal example and inspiration for the new models.
All versions feature a unidirectional, counter-clockwise rotating bezel with perceptible click and a Super-LumiNova coated triangle to mark the dive start time. The ceramic inlay makes the surface of the bezel exceptionally scratch-resistant. The water resistance of both models is enhanced by screw-down crowns.
Protected by antireflective sapphire crystals, the dials offer excellent visibility even under water thanks to large printed / applied hour markers and indexes that, just like the hour, minute and second hands, are highlighted with blue-radiant Super-LumiNova.
The SeaQ, comes in a 39.5 mm stainless steel case offering water resistance to 200 metres / 660 feet and framing a black dial with Arabic numerals, indexes and hands accentuated with the historic “Old Radium” hue.
The solid case back is enhanced by the engraving of a trident, the Glashütte Original Double-G, 20 waves to remark the 20 bar water resistance and the continuous case number.
The SeaQ is available with three strap options: a flat stainless steel bracelet with 8-step fine adjustment mechanism, a water-resistant nylon mesh strap, and a black rubber strap with embossed design. The price is Euro 8,500 with strap or Euro 9,700 with steel bracelet.
The limited edition SeaQ 1969 is characterized by the green hands and the “Old Radium” shade of beige on the Arabic numerals and indexes deriving from the Spezimatic Type RP TS 200. Also inspired by its predecessor are the inscriptions on the dial: “Rubies 26” representing the promise of quality associated at the time with the Calibre 75 and “Shockproof” referring to the construction of the diver’s watch, renowned even then for its robust and stable design.
The SeaQ 1969 is available in a limited edition of 69 pieces, each with the individual number engraved on the base plate. For this edition, two are the strap options: embossed black rubber or water-resistant nylon mesh. The price is Euro 8,500.
The SeaQ and the SeaQ 1969 are both powered by the manufactory’s automatic movement Calibre 39-11 with heavy metal oscillating mass. It features a power reserve of 40 hours, a stop-second mechanism and a date display at 3 o’clock.
The second model, the SeaQ Panorama Date, features a 43.2 mm x 15.65 mm stainless steel case with crown protectors and is water resistant up to 30 bar, approximately 300 meters / 1,000 feet.
The distinctive big date positioned at 4 o’clock, a typical feature of Glashütte Original, gives this larger version its name. The dial – optionally either black or blue with a sunray finish – presents the hands, applied Arabic numerals and indexes in green or white, respectively.
The screwed sapphire crystal case back displays the automatic Calibre 36-13 which is optimally configured for this model. In fact, the bayonet mounting ensures that the movement is anchored in the larger case for particularly effective shock-resistance. It features a remarkable 100-hour running time while the silicon balance spring enables reliably high rate precision.
