Launched in 2019, the SpeakeMarin One & Two Openworked Dual Time model is equipped with an in-house developed and assembled movement. Two sizes: 38 mm (ref. 423809250) or 42 mm (ref. 424209250). The case guarantees resistance to a pressure of 3 bar. The Speake-Marin One & Two Openworked Dual Time is produced in two limited editions of 20 pieces for each diameter with a price of Swiss Francs 38,700.
Since 2015, Speake Marin has started to develop and assemble proprietary movements within its atelier in the Neuchatel area, Switzerland.
The One & Two Openworked Dual Time model launched this year is equipped with one of these movements, the self-winding SMA02 Calibre featuring a micro-rotor and offering retrograde date and dual time indications. Beating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vph), it offers a power reserve of 52 hours.
Like the other movements of the SMA family, the SMA02 is characterized by the small second counter positioned at 1:30. Speake Marin is the only watchmaker who positions the small seconds there.
The watchmakers of the brand created a visual balance between the barrel, the oscillating mass and the small seconds subdial by positioning them in the form of a triangle.
This is the first Speake Marin model to feature a dual time complication, a function that is particularly appreciated by frequent travellers allowing them to know at first glance their “home” time versus the “local” time.
Here, the “local” time is given by the central Hours Minutes Seconds indication, while the “home” time can be easily seen on the dial graduated over 24 hours and positioned at 9 o'clock.
The movement is housed in a streamlined version of the Piccadilly case crafted from red gold and available in two sizes: 38 mm (ref. 423809250) or 42 mm (ref. 424209250). The case guarantees resistance to a pressure of 3 bar.
The sapphire crystal, traditionally set into the bezel, has now been altered to a box form, allowing the designers to reduce the overall thickness of the case.
Completed by a brown alligator or grey crocodile leather strap with a pin buckle in red gold, the Speake Marin One & Two Openworked Dual Time is produced in two limited editions of 20 pieces for each diameter with a price of Swiss Francs 38,700. speake-marin.com
