Rolex Sea-Dweller 126603. At Baselworld 2019 Rolex presented the Sea-Dweller Ref. 126603 in a two-tone version combining Oystersteel and 18 ct yellow gold which the Geneva-based brand calls Rolesor. Covered by the Superlative Chronometer certification applied to the fully assembled watch and guaranteeing a precision of the order of −2/+2 seconds per day, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller in Rolesor Ref. 126603 has a suggested retail price of Euro 14,950 / US$ 16,050.
After the introduction of the latest generation of its Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller in 2017, in 2019 Rolex presented the Sea-Dweller Ref. 126603 in a two-tone version combining Oystersteel and 18 ct yellow gold which the Geneva-based brand calls Rolesor.
This new model brings 18 ct yellow gold to the Sea-Dweller range for the first time, using it for the bezel, the winding crown and the centre links of the bracelet, while the case and outer links of the bracelet are in Oystersteel.
The Sea-Dweller was introduced in 1967 and designed in collaboration with the pioneers of professional deep-sea diving, who tested this ultra-resistant tool watch in their first experimental underwater habitat programmes.
The 43 mm Oyster case features a unidirectional rotatable bezel with a 60-minute graduated Cerachrom insert in black ceramic. The moulded, recessed graduations and numerals are coated with yellow gold via PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition).
Thanks to its patented helium escape valve, fitted into the side of the watch case, the watch offers waterproofness to a depth of 1,220 metres / 4,000 feet.
Acting as a safety valve, the helium escape valve allows excess pressure built up in the watch case during a dive to escape during a diver’s decompression phase in a hyperbaric chamber.
The winding crown, fitted with the Triplock triple waterproofness system, screws down securely against the case and is protected by an integral crown guard. The crystal is made of virtually scratchproof sapphire and is fitted with a Cyclops lens at 3 o’clock for easy reading of the date.
The black dial features large Chromalight hour markers and hands, filled with luminescent material that emits a long-lasting blue glow for excellent legibility in dark conditions. The name “Sea-Dweller” is inscribed in a yellow hue, echoing the colour of the 18 ct yellow gold.
The Calibre 3235 self-winding mechanical movement incorporates the new Chronergy escapement patented by Rolex, which combines high energy efficiency with great dependability. Made of nickel-phosphorus, it is also insensitive to magnetic interference.
Equipped with a self-winding module via a Perpetual rotor, Calibre 3235 offers a power reserve of approximately 70 hours.
The solid-link Oyster bracelet is fitted with an Oysterlock safety clasp that prevents accidental opening. It also features the Rolex Glidelock extension system whose toothed mechanism, integrated beneath the clasp, allows fine adjustment of the bracelet length by some 20 mm in increments of approximately 2 mm, without the use of tools. The watch can therefore be worn over a diving suit up to 3 mm thick.
Covered by the Superlative Chronometer certification applied to the fully assembled watch and guaranteeing a precision of the order of −2/+2 seconds per day, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller in Rolesor Ref. 126603 has a suggested retail price of Euro 14,950 / US$ 16,050. rolex.com

To me a professional diver's in gold and steel makes no sense at all but I must admit that the result is very good and I like it a lot in terms of design.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I can accept it in the Submariner but not in the SD. And it makes the watch heavier.
