Available in sizes of 42 or 44 mm, the new Luminor Marina PAM977 and PAM978 feature a brand new silver-coloured dial, with a special brushed finish formed of vertical stripes, and large hour markers coated with white luminous material to enhance legibility at night and underwater.
The small seconds counter at 9 o'clock visually counterbalance the date aperture at 3 o'clock. The 44 mm version also feature the 9 Arabic numeral which is missing in the smaller model.
The case, made of AISI 316L stainless steel, an alloy particularly resistant to corrosion, has the classic Panerai design characterized by the “bridge” device which protects the winding crown, and it is fitted with a seamlessly integrated metal bracelet.
The shape of each link recalls the bridge and it is integrated with the other links – without any screws – alternating polished and brushed finishes.
On the back of the case, the bidirectional oscillating weight of the self-winding P.9010 Manufacture movement is visible through a sapphire glass porthole.
It is fitted with the device for stopping the balance wheel when synchronising the watch and the system for rapidly adjusting the hour hand, which can be moved forwards or backwards without interfering with the running of the minute hand. A function that is very useful when setting the time or changing the time zone. The balance is fixed by a bridge with twin supports and it oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The power reserve, when fully wound, is 72 hours.
