On occasion of SIHH 2019, Montblanc introduced the new Heritage product line integrating a comprehensive range of movements inspired by high-end Minerva calibres (Minerva became a department of Montblanc following the acquisition of the Fabrique d'Horlogerie Minerva SA by Swiss luxury goods group Richemont in 2007. You can read more about this subject in our article "History of Minerva, from its foundation to the integration into Montblanc").
The new product line includes an interesting mid-range monopusher chronograph — one of the technical pillars of Minerva movement crafting knowledge — offering an accessible price point and an attractive vintage look.
The Montblanc Heritage Monopusher Chronograph features a domed silvery-white dial with “grené” hour ring, anthracite applied Arabic numerals and dots as indexes, anthracite luminescent bent dauphine hour- and minute-hands, blued baton second- and 30-minute chronograph counter-hands, and blued bent baton 60-second central chronograph hand. A closer look at the minutes chronograph counter at three o’clock reveals an indicator for 3, 6 and 9 minutes— a vintage touch from the days when we used coin-operated telephones and needed to track the length. At 12 o'clock we find the historical Montblanc logo.
Protected by a scratch-resistant, domed box-shaped sapphire crystal with antireflective coating, the elegant dial is framed by a a fully-polished 42 mm stainless steel round case which sits comfortably on the wrist thanks to curved lugs.
The caseback is enriched by a Minerva Manufacture engraving. The Heritage Monopusher Chronograph is water resistant to 50 metres / 165 feet and certified by the Montblanc Laboratory Test 500 which simulates intense real-life wear for over 500 hours.
The timepiece is completed with the choice of a Sfumato alligator leather strap from Richemont Pelletteria in Florence, Italy, or a steel Milanese mesh bracelet.
The Montblanc Heritage Monopusher Chronograph has a price of Euro 4,800 with leather strap (ref. 119951) or Euro 5,000 with steel bracelet (ref. 119952). montblanc.com
