Introducing the Lange Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon with pink gold dial. Presented at SIHH 2019, Price and specs of the new reference ref. 740.056.
Launched in 2016 with a technical black dial, the A. Lange & Söhne Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon combines an impressive amount of features: a column-wheel chronograph with flyback function and a jumping minute counter, a perpetual calendar with moon-phase display and the typical Lange outsize date, a one-minute tourbillon with patented stop seconds and a power reserve indicator.
The initial 100-watch edition in platinum with black dial is now followed by a second edition of 100 watches in white gold with a fascinating dial crafted from solid pink gold, a hue that is not often used by the Saxon watchmaker.
The 41.5 mm white gold case and the rhodiumed gold hands and appliques create a captivating contrast with this warm and elegant tone.
From a technical point of view, the Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon brings to exceptional complexity one of the most appreciated chronographs ever produced, the Datograph.
A name that has become highly regarded by watch enthusiasts and collectors, Datograph is immediately associated to a column-wheel chronograph with flyback function combined to the typical Lange outsize date. The mechanism features a jumping minute counter that allows the wearer to clearly read the stopped times. Its dial layout, in which the Lange outsize date and the two subsidiary dials form an equilateral triangle, made this model immediately recognizable and emblematic of the brand.
In this model, the subsidiary dials are slightly larger in order to accomodate the displays of the perpetual calendar. The subsidiary seconds, the day of the week and the day/night indicator are on the left side, while the precisely jumping minute counter, the months, and the leap-year indicator are on the right.
Three recessed correctors on the caseband make it possible to adjust the moon phase, the day, and the month separately. A universal button at 10 o'clock advances all calendar displays collectively.
Composed of 729 (!) meticulously finished parts, the Lange-manufacture hand-wound calibre L952.2 can be admired thanks to the sapphire crystal caseback.
Eliminating the influence of gravity on the escapement inside its cage, the tourbillon mechanism with the escapement rotating about its own axis once a minute takes the spotlight at 12 o'clock. The balance beats at a rate of 18,000 vibrations per hour (2.5 Hz) instead of the conventional 21,600. Consequently, stopped times can be displayed with an accuracy of one-fifth of a second. The 55-hour power-reserve indicator is integrated at the end of the tachymeter scale.
The A. Lange & Söhne Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon with pink-gold dial (ref. 740.056) has an indicative price of Euro 290,000. alange-soehne.com
