For the 20th Anniversary of its exclusive Chronomètre à Résonance model, F.P.Journe proposes a version with a special dial that will be produced only during the year 2019.
The main peculiarity of this special edition is that the hour dial at 3 o’clock maintains an analog 12 hour indication while the dial at 9 o’clock features an analog 24 hour indication.
The Chronomètre à Résonance with Analog 24 Hour Display comes in a 40 mm round case and is available in two variations: one with a platinum case and white gold dial, the other entirely in rose gold. The two dials in silver guilloché Clous de Paris indicating the hours and minutes can also be set on two different time zones.
The first F.P.Journe wristwatch taking advantage of the physical resonance phenomenon was commercialized as a world premiere in the year 2000.
Each of the two balances alternately serves as exciter and resonator. When the two balances are in motion, they enter into sympathy due to the effect of resonance and begin naturally beating in opposition. The two balances thus rest against each other, giving more inertia to their movement.
This result is possible only if the difference in frequency between them does not exceed five seconds per day of cumulated difference in six positions. Adjusting them is an extremely delicate task.
The rose gold hand wound Calibre 1499.3 with its two perfectly synchronized beating mechanical hearts are visible through a sapphire crystal case-back. Beating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz), it guarantees a power reserve of around 40 hours which is indicated on the dial side at 11 o’clock.
The F.P.Journe Chronomètre à Résonance with Analog 24 Hour Display has a price of Swiss Francs 80,200 in rose gold and Swiss Francs 84,100 in platinum. fpjourne.com
