The Bovet Récital 22 Grand Récital wins the 18th Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix (GPHG 2018). All the winners in the various categories and the winner of the “Aiguille d’Or” Grand Prix, the highest distinction honouring the finest timepiece of the year, awarded to the Bovet Récital 22 Grand Récital.
The jury of the 18th Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix (GPHG), held in the Theatre du Leman, has chosen the 2018 winners in each of the twelve main categories.
The international jury has awarded the “Aiguille d’Or” Grand Prix, the highest distinction honouring the finest timepiece of the year, to the Bovet Récital 22 Grand Récital.
This exceptional tourbillon timepiece, housed in a 46.3 mm red gold case, displays three heavenly bodies that set the pace of our lives: the sun, earth, and moon. The sun is represented by the flying tourbillon, whose carriage bridge evokes its rays. The striking hemispherical earth rotates on its own axis and shows the hours on a natural 24-hour cycle. Finally, a spherical moon orbits the earth according to the exact length of its synodic period, i.e. 29.53 days. Retrograde minute and power reserve indications are displayed on hemispherical sectors curved to mirror the globe.
Reversing the timepiece and looking through its large sapphire crystal, the viewer beholds a vast bridge decorated with circular Côtes de Genève, centered around the tourbillon’s axis. Various apertures open onto the hour, day, month, and leap-year indicators, and a glass date disk guided by the bridge, which is displayed on both sides of the movement.
Oscillating at 18,000 vibrations per hour, the hand-wound movement guarantees an impressive power reserve of 216 hours (9 days).
A limited edition of 60 pieces, the Bovet Récital 22 Grand Récital has a price of Swiss Francs 468,500.

The special Revival prize has been assigned to Vacheron Constantin for its Historiques Triple Calendrier 1942 and 1948.
The special Innovation prize went to the Krayon Everywhere, an ingenious complication that calculates sunrise and sunset times.
Konstantin Chaykin won the Audacity award with its Clown watch.
Finally, the Special Jury Prize has been assigned to Jean-Claude Biver, President non-executive of the LVMH Group Watch division as well as Chairman of Hublot and Zenith, in recognition of his exceptional contribution to the success of the Swiss watchmaking industry.
