Introducing the new Armin Strom Masterpiece 1 Dual Time Resonance watch with price, full specs, lot of pics and video. Housed in an unconventional oval case crafted from ultra-light Grade 5 titanium, two independent movements display two independent time zones while beating in resonance for increased precision.
Year after year, Armin Strom keeps raising the bar of technical excellence developing timepieces that always stand out for their creativity and innovation.
The latest surprise comes with a timepiece that is the first of the new Masterpiece collection.
The Masterpiece 1 Dual Time Resonance is a true horological feat, a watch like no others.
Housed in an unconventional oval case crafted from ultra-light Grade 5 titanium, two independent movements display two independent time zones — not simply one movement with two displays — while beating in resonance for increased precision.
Mechanical resonance is a physical phenomenon which can affect most objects, bringing them to vibrate in synchronous on occurrence of specific variables.
Resonance in a wristwatch movement with synchronized coupled oscillators improves accuracy by averaging slight differences in the precision of each movement while minimising adverse effects of shocks. An additional benefit, resonance also conserves energy: in fact, vibrational energy that is normally lost through the supports of the regulator is conserved in the system.
The key element of the system is the Resonance Clutch Spring, the result of three-years of intensive research and development. In order to connect the two sets of oscillators, its shape is so sophisticated that Armin Strom had to create it in-house.
Its effectiveness has been thoroughly validated. Armin Strom’s laboratory testing has revealed gains in precision of 15-20% for two COSC chronometer-level regulated movements placed in resonance. The CSEM (Centre Suisse d'Electronique et de Microtechnique) has officially certified Armin Strom’s resonance system based on the clutch spring as being a true system in resonance.
The two independent movements enable the Dual Time Resonance to indicate GMT, or a second time zone, but the second sub-dial can be used for additional functions: for example it can be used to measure the length of an event by setting the time at 00:00 or as a count-down timer.
It must be remarked here that Armin Strom’s main technical goal in the development of the Masterpiece 1 was not the creation of a dual time timepiece but rather to fully expoit the potential of a resonance system, a showcase of the technical and artistic excellence of the brand.
Power reserve indicators on each of the hand-guilloché dials and a 24-hour indication at 6 o’clock complete the indications.
Water resistant to a pressure of 5 ATM (around 50 metres / 165 feet), the case is 59 mm wide, 43.4 mm long (including lugs) with a thickness of 15.9 mm. And when you turn it, it is again time for amazement with the four barrels that wind simultaneously to offer an impressive power reserve of 110 hours for each movement beating at the frequency of 3.5 Hz (25,200 vibrations per hour). Base plate and bridges are decorated according to the highest Haute Horlogerie standards.
Completed by a black alligator strap and stainless steel double-folding clasp, the Armin Strom Masterpiece 1 Dual Time Resonance launches in a limited edition of just 8 pieces in Grade 5 titanium with a price of Swiss Francs 180,000. arminstrom.com

Fantastic technical solution, less excited by the oval shape. Would like to see some wristshots.
