At Baselworld 2018 Akrivia introduced the new collection Rexhep Rexhepi (the name of the founder of the brand) collection. The first model of this new line is the Chronomètre Contemporain, a classical round watch available with a white or black grand feu enamel dial. Full specs and price in our article.
In just 8 years of history, the Geneva-based Akrivia brand presented several exceptional timepieces — you can discover some of their models through our articles by clicking here — demonstrating great respect for the heritage of high-end watchmaking traditions while showing the ambition to develop a distinctive style.
In 2018, in addition to the complicated models created so far, Akrivia presented the new Rexhep Rexhepi (the name of the founder of the brand) collection whose inspiration comes from officer’s watches of the 1940s with clean, elegant lines and excellent readability.
The first model of this new line is the Chronomètre Contemporain, a classical round watch available with a white or black Grand Feu enamel dial characterised by Art Deco-inspired asymmetrical gold or blue lines. These lines frame and segment the Roman numbers in a rhythmic fashion, providing the traditionally handmade enamel dial with a contemporary touch. The large diameter of the sub-seconds counter at 6 o’clock is a tribute to the officer’s watch.
The 38 mm x 9.5 mm case, in red gold or platinum, is made of three parts with screwed case back and alternates polished and brushed finishing offering waterproofness to 3 ATM (around 30 metres / 100 feet). Its size is comfortable for most wrists and ideal for a classic, elegant watch. The elongated lugs have been hand-soldered to the hand-finished case.
Through the sapphire crystal case back, it is possible to admire the in-house, manual winding Calibre RR-01 with stop seconds and 0-seconds reset function. When the crown is pulled out to the time setting position, the mecanism stops the balance and instantly returns the second hand to zero. Thanks to this mechanism, the Chronomètre Contemporain is set with greater precision to the second.
Beating at a frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour (2.5 Hz) and offering a power reserve of 100 hours, this movement is beautifully hand finished using classical techniques such as anglage, black polish, perlage, Côtes de Genève, hand graining and polishing, and hand engraving with rhodium treatment.
On client’s request and an additional cost, the watch can be Chronometer-certified by the Besançon Observatory. With this option, the watch is delivered with a “Bulletin de marche de chronométrie” after a testing of the complete watch for 16 consecutive days.
The price of the Rexhep Rexhepi Chronomètre Contemporain by Akrivia starts at Swiss Francs 60,000 for the red gold version. akrivia.com
