Omega Speedmaster Tokyo 2020 Limited Editions

The new models are inspired to the colours of the famous five rings of the Olympic Games (blue, yellow, black, green and red) and based on the Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch with sapphire crystal.

The 42 mm asymmetrical case with lyra lugs and fixed bezel with tachymetric scale houses the hand-wound calibre 1861 beating at 21,600 vph and offering 48 hours of power reserve. The movement is not visible because the watch features a solid caseback stamped with the Tokyo 2020 logo.

The first model (ref. 522.30.42.30.03.001) has great appeal by combining the steel case to a blue bezel and blue dial with white counters. This watch reminds the Gemini IV Limited Edition dating back to 2006 although most experts can spot the differences quickly.

Steel and yellow gold are used for the second model (ref. 522.20.42.30.01.001) representing the yellow ring of the Olympic Games (hence the use of gold). The matte black dial is enhanced by yellow gold for the rings of the counters, the hands and the indices as well as for pushers, crown and bezel.

To represent the black ring, Omega chose a silvery-white opaline dial with black counters (panda dial) framed by a black bezel and an all-steel case (ref. 522.30.42.30.04.001). This model is very similar to a limited edition of the past and, more specifically, the 2004 Apollo 11 35th Anniversary Edition.

Featuring a green bezel, the fourth model (ref. 522.20.42.30.06.001) comes in a stainless steel case with Sedna gold for the rings of the counters, the hands and the indices as well as for pushers, crown and bezel. Sedna is the name chosen by Omega for its special rose gold alloy blending gold, palladium and copper.

Finally, the fifth one (ref. 522.30.42.30.06.001) is all made of steel with a sandblasted light grey dial framed by a red bezel which represents the red ring of the Olympic Games. The colour scheme of the watch is also a nod to the flag of Japan.

Only 2,020 versions of each model have been created, a clear reference to the year of the next edition of the Olympic Games. Indicative prices are Euro 5,240 (JPY 680,400) for the steel models and Euro 6,490 (JPY 842,400) for steel and gold. Omega will also release 55 special sets with all five models and five extra leather straps.
